Celebrating our Nation’s Heroes Now and Every Day

May is National Military Appreciation Month (NMAM). This declaration gives U.S. citizens the opportunity to recognize and pay tribute to both active duty and retired military men and women who have served our great country in wartime and peace. This month we give thanks to them, their families, and the many who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. Please join us by observing the month of May as a symbol of unity during a difficult time in our country’s history.

To have the military presence that we are blessed to have here in Tampa Bay is one of the special characteristics that makes this region such a special place. Our military leaders work hard to keep us all safe each day. It is important to remember to honor them and thank them for their service when we see them. The economic impact of having MacDill here along with the refueling wing, the joint commands and the civilian support at MacDill, make the base a huge commerce driver for the Tampa Bay region and we are honored to call them neighbors.

This month, HCP will be reaching out to a variety of community leaders, clients, friends and family to provide their personal insights into what this special observance means to them and how thankful they are for our active duty and retired military friends.

Port Tampa Bay honors the dedication and sacrifice of servicemen and women during Military Appreciation Month. Our veterans deserve endless praise and recognition. The port is pleased to employ more than 30 veterans on our staff. As the son of a Marine veteran, I understand first-hand the impact our military has on their country and community.
